When you drive through the avenues lined with big old sycamore trees, you are almost there: The begin of an unforgettable, relaxing holiday in southern France!
Villa Camille is situated on a hill on the outskirts of the sleepy village of Saint-Siffret. There you can soak up the sun in peace before strolling through the streets of Uzès and enjoying French life: a glass of rosé on the Place aux Herbes, shopping at the weekly market, browsing through the small galleries and shops.
The nearby river Gardon offers a special nature experience ans is a beautiful spot for a picnic or a kayak tour under Pont du Gard - the historic aqueduct is an experience in itself. Villa Camille is also the ideal starting point for many other explorations in Provence and Languedoc.
Have a good time and enjoy life!

The medieval city of Uzès is a real hidden gem among the cities of southern France. The car-free, perfectly restored alleys of the old town fuel the desire to explore; many a gallery, art studio or small shop to browse through; and the wonderful, sycamore-shaded Place aux Herbes to linger. The popular weekly Saturday market is an absolute must visit.
Those looking for more silence and peacefulness can descend into Vallée de l'Eure, which is only a short hike and popular with locals for walks and picnics. There you can still find the remains of the spring that the Romans tapped and channeled over Pont du Gard.
Pont du Gard is one of the most important sights in southern France and just a stone's throw away from Villa Camille. It has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1985. The aqueduct is one of the largest surviving bridges of the ancient Roman world. It was part of an approximately 50 km long water channel that transported water from the source in Uzès' Vallée de l'Eure all the way to Nîmes.
If you are good on foot, you can enjoy the beautiful viewpoints in the immediate vicinity or explore the remains of other smaller aqueducts and canals. The modern museum illustrates the sheer dimensions of this extraordinary construction work. And if you want to leave your car behind, come by bike or canoe along the Gardon!
"Sur le Pont de Avignon" - who does not know the French folk song about the bridge Saint-Bénézet. But it's just one of many reasons to spend a whole day in Avignon!
There is the beautiful old town with its magnificent medieval houses; the mighty city wall, which is still in good condition today. And the imposing "Palais des Papes", the papal palace. It was built when Avignon became the papal seat from 1309 to 1376 due to power struggles in Rome. A tour of the palace alone is an absolute experience!
Avignon is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and has a lot to offer both artistically and culturally.
The Gardon is not only eponym of the Gard department, which is home to Uzès and Pont du Gard. The rugged landscape it created over the years is a wonderful, picturesque destination for swimming on a hot day, as well for hiking, climbing and canoeing.
As a starting point for your explorations, we recommend either Collias or the special Pont Saint Nicolas at Saint Nicolas de Campagnac. Canoes can be hired from many places in Collias, e.g. Kayak Vert.
Those who like to enjoy nature should come and visit the Camargue nature reserve or the Cévennes national park.
The Camargue is known for its rich water bird life and the white Camargue horses. The fortified town of Aigues-Mortes, the pilgrimage site of Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer and the bathing beaches are beautiful destinations for a day trip.
In the Cevennes, the enchanted bamboo park "Bambouseraie" is an absolute insider tip. The steam train "Train à vapeur des Cévennes" also runs here. Moreover, the mountainous area is a paradise for hikers!
Arles and Nimes are only two of the numerous Roman and picturesque towns near Uzès:
In Nîmes' Roman heyday, the temple "Maison Careé" and the amphitheater with a capacity of over 20,000 spectators were built, whose breathtaking acoustics and ambience are still used for music concerts today.
Also Arles shows numerous remains from Roman antiquity and the Middle Ages. The amphitheater and other Roman monuments have been UNESCO World Heritage Sites since 1981.
Basketball, football or boules can be played on the nearby sports ground. Tennis enthusiasts are invited to use one of the two hard courts after registering with the tennis club.
Straight out of the gate you enter the spectacular Garrigue, which is the name of this special forest of small trees of the Pays d'Uzès: Here you can experience wonderful blossoms, fragrant herbs and mystical ossified trees.
There is a shady children's playground within walking distance, where the kids can make their first contacts with the French children. We also recommend the large playground above the Vallèe de l'Eure or the "Candyland" with a bouncy castle, climbing and much more in Uzès.
There are plenty of oil mills and domains in the area that invite you to taste and buy delicacies. Particularly recommended: Mulin à Huile de Paradis and Domaine Natura.
The Uzès golf course invites you to the driving range or a round.
The small pottery village of Saint Quentin la Poterie attracts art lovers with countless pottery galleries and alleys decorated with pottery.
